People Are Leaving the Northeast and Heading South
There seems to be an exodus happening in the Northeast. Millions have moved from states in the northeastern part of the country like New York and Massachusetts over the last decade or so to live in other parts of the nation. Many have decided to move south to Florida.
Why is this happening? It turns out that there is no single reason that is making people move. Instead, it seems to be several issues that are common in this area of the country. Let’s take a closer look.
The Weather
The summer months are upon us already, and people around the country have finally started to get out and enjoy the sun. Of course, in the beautiful city of Miami, we get to enjoy the sun all year long. People in the northern states do not have year-round sunshine. They have months of snow and cloudy, dreary weather. The weather really can take a toll over time, and the winters have been very rough in recent years.
Therefore, it is only natural that a certain segment of the population will start to look south to Miami with a longing in their eyes. They do not want to deal with snow and slush any longer, and there are plenty of properties available in Miami that could make for a nice, new home.
The Cost of Living
Living in the Northeast is not cheap, and a large number of people who live there worry that they will never be able to become debt-free. It can feel like a trap to many, and they look for a place to live that has cheaper options available for housing, and for general goods. The high costs have sent people fleeing from the Northeast in growing numbers lately. There are many areas of South Florida where just about everything is more affordable than what you will find in the Northeast.
Lack of Jobs
Tied in closely with the cost of living is jobs. There are many companies that no longer want to operate in the Northeast. They are seeking other areas that are warmer and that they feel may present more options for them. Many companies are opening up shop in places like Florida, for example. Therefore, it is only natural that people will end up going where the jobs are.
Florida Welcomes to Transplants from the Northeast
Moving from the north to Florida has always been popular, and that popularity has not waned at all in recent years. Those who are looking for some great weather, a wonderful place to raise their family, job opportunities, and a wealth of real estate from which to choose will want to head to the Sunshine State. Miami is waiting with open arms.
